Mimecast opens new headquarters in Melbourne

Leading cloud-based email management provider Mimecast has opened its Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne, with plans to create 25 new jobs within the first year of operation.
Minister for Technology Gordon Rich-Phillips welcomed the investment by Mimecast and said it builds on Victoria’s reputation as a premier location for technology companies.
“Mimecast’s decision to open its Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne, and create 25 new jobs, is a significant boost to our local technology scene and the broader economy,” Mr Rich-Phillips said.
Founded in the United Kingdom in 2003, Mimecast is a leading vendor of cloud-based email management services for Microsoft Exchange, Hosted Exchange and Office 365 including archiving, security and continuity.
It secures, stores and organises unstructured data, held in the archive, in order to make that information accessible and useful to its customers’ and users. It is expanding rapidly with over 50 per cent year on year growth in the last three years and serves more than 7,500 customers and 1.8 million users worldwide.
Mr Rich-Phillips said that the opening of the company’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne will provide a vital hub for delivering the company’s range of technology solutions which will provide important growth opportunities in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
“Mimecast’s presence in Melbourne will allow its Australian customers to have access to local technical expertise, knowledge and support,” Mr Rich-Phillips said.
“The Victorian Coalition Government is supporting the development of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector by attracting new ICT expertise and encouraging business growth.”
Mimecast’s ANZ Country Manager Nicholas Lennon said the support of the Coalition Government has been invaluable in setting up the company in Victoria.
“The Coalition Government has provided us with business support, advice and assistance across a wide number of areas. Victoria is an easy place to do business,” Mr Lennon said.
