New pharmaceutical distribution facility opens in Keysborough

Press Releases

Australia’s most advanced pharmaceutical distribution facility has officially opened in Keysborough to service Victorian hospitals and pharmacies.

Minister for Technology Gordon Rich-Phillips today congratulated leading Australian pharmaceutical wholesaler and distributor Symbion on the inauguration of its new 12,000m2 centre.

The Keysborough facility features sophisticated systems and technologies that safely and efficiently process around 10,000 units of medicine every hour.

These medicines are then delivered to 750 pharmacy and 160 hospital customers across Victoria daily.

“Symbion has invested more than $40 million and several years researching, designing and constructing Australia’s most advanced pharmaceutical storage and distribution centre,” Mr Rich-Phillips said.

“This is an important component of the infrastructure that underpins the safe and timely access to medicines for communities throughout the state.”

Around 100 people are employed at the site.
