LABOR OVERSEES UNEMPLOYMENT CRISIS IN CRANBOURNE
Daniel Andrews is failing on his promise to deliver new jobs and opportunities for the
people of Cranbourne.
Figures released by the Australian Department of Employment this month reveal that since the election of the Andrews Government in December 2014 the number of unemployed people in the suburbs of Cranbourne has surged by almost 30 per cent.
The number of unemployed people living in Cranbourne has risen by more than 900 to a figure of nearly 4000 since December 2014. This includes a 63 per cent increase in the number of unemployed people in Cranbourne East.
These figures follow the closure of Daniel Andrews botched $100 million ‘back-to-work’ scheme earlier this year, which failed to generate even one-tenth of the jobs that Cranbourne required to avoid falling into higher levels of unemployment.
What’s worse, Labor also has failed to commence any significant infrastructure projects in Cranbourne that could provide new job opportunities and help facilitate new investment in the area.
Quotes attributable to Mr Rich-Phillips, Member for South-Eastern Metropolitan Region:
“Daniel Andrews has failed to deliver new jobs for Cranbourne with unemployment blowing out by almost 30 per cent”.
“Labor’s failure to invest in and commence work on the critical infrastructure projects that the area needs leaves the people of Cranbourne at a greater risk of even higher unemployment pains to come”.
