VIOLENT CRIME AT RECORD LEVELS IN CASEY

City of Casey - Key figures from the Crime Statistics Agency 

Violent crime has reached record levels in the City of Casey under the Andrews Government. 

Figures released today show that the annual number of recorded offences has risen 40.2% from 17,512 (Dec 2014) to 24,545 (Mar 2017).

Over the past three years the number of violent offences recorded in Casey has risen sharply:

  • Aggravated burglary up 231%, from 108 to 358
  • Aggravated robbery up 110%, from 73 to 153
  • Stalking up 76%, from 86 to 151
  • Common assault up 68%, 942 to 1587
  • Threatening behaviour up 47%, from 294 to 431
  • Sexual offences up 44%, from 419 to 602
  • Breach bail conditions up 975%, from 16 to 172

Violent crime in the City of Casey has surged to record levels since Daniel Andrews became Premier.  

Weakened bail laws, police station closures, and cuts to frontline police numbers have harmed community safety. 

The continued increase in rates of violent crime is more evidence that Daniel Andrews should urgently adopt the Liberal Nationals mandatory sentencing policy.
