Dale Harriman - Liberal Candidate for Morwell

Opposition Press Releases

In Morwell today, Liberal Leader Matthew Guy announced that Dale Harriman will be the Liberal Candidate for the seat of Morwell at the November state election.

Dale has worked tirelessly for his community in his roles as Councillor and Mayor at Latrobe City Council.

He has worked in the Valley for over twenty years and his work at the Gippsland Carers Association and as Chair of the National Timber Councils Association has given him a thorough understanding of the challenges facing our region.

Dale lives in Traralgon with his wife Colleen and 3 children. He is a member of the Lions Club and the Traralgon-Tyers United Football and Netball Club. In his spare time he enjoys camping and fishing.

Daniel Andrews has made it clear he simply doesn’t care for regional Victoria and that he is the Premier for Melbourne and Melbourne only.

By tripling the coal tax, Daniel Andrews signed Hazelwood’s death warrant and caused the loss of hundreds of jobs in the Latrobe Valley. At the time Daniel Andrews announced this new tax, the CEO of Engie warned that the move would “have a detrimental impact on the region's energy sector”.

It's time we shifted the attention of government back to our regional areas and only a Matthew Guy led government will have such a plan.

Comments attributable from Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy:

“Dale’s record as a local champion for the Latrobe Valley speaks for itself. As Mayor and a Councillor he has always fought for his community and he isn’t afraid to put some noses out of joint if it means getting results.”

Comments attributable from Shadow Minister for Community Safety, Edward O’Donohue:

“Daniel Andrews and Labor have put the interests of the inner-city Greens ahead of the interests of the Latrobe Valley. Their reckless policies forced the closure of Hazelwood which cost local jobs just so they could win inner-suburban Melbourne votes.”

Comments attributable from Liberal Candidate for Morwell, Dale Harriman:

“I love the Latrobe Valley and I want my kids to have a future here but that means we need more local jobs to grow our local economy.”
