Victorians still kept in the dark over power security

Opposition Press Releases

Daniel Andrews is patting himself on the back for guaranteeing Victorians who went without power for up to 20 hours what they were already entitled to under existing schemes.

It’s insulting after all of his big talk that Daniel Andrews has failed to guarantee Victorians any more than what they are entitled under the Guaranteed Service Level payments scheme (GSL).

Compensation won’t help Victorians whose health is put at risk every time there’s a blackout. It won’t help families and businesses that may have lost thousands of dollars in perishable items of food and will now be forced to replace this at their own cost.

Under Daniel Andrews, Victorians are still paying more for energy than they have before and still have to worry about blackouts every time we have a hot day.

While Daniel Andrews continues to blame others for his own failure to secure our state’s energy supply, Victorians are paying more for less reliable power.

Background

The current GSL payments Prescribed by the Essential Services Commission have compensation for blackouts at $80 for up to 20 hours.
