Massive funding boost for Ballarat Hockey

Opposition Press Releases

Out of control population growth in our regional suburbs is placing enormous pressure on our local sporting clubs.

That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will contribute $1.8 million towards the first stage of the construction of a second hockey centre in Ballarat.

The funding will go towards the construction of a new hockey pitch and change rooms as the current facility is bursting at the seams, with 388 registered players and 33 teams training at the site making it difficult to schedule training and game time for this amount of players.

Victoria’s population is growing at around 150,000 people a year and the Andrews Labor Government has failed to properly plan for that growth.

Unlike Daniel Andrews who has decided to give a massive $225 million of taxpayers’ money to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium, the Liberal Nationals are getting behind cash-strapped local sporting clubs who desperately need our support.

The Liberal Nationals will get back in control of population growth and stand up for all Victorians, unlike the city-centric Andrews Labor Government.

Comments attributable to Member for Western Victoria, Joshua Morris:

“Amy Johnson is focusing on the issues that matter and she’s fighting for her local community and that’s why the Liberal Nationals are backing her policy to give Ballarat Hockey a state of the art facility for the Ballarat community.

“Only a Liberal Nationals Government will get back in control of grassroots sport and provide our community sporting clubs with the facilities they need and deserve.”
