Brian McKiterick and the Liberals to upgrade Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club to continue to support our volunteers

Opposition Press Releases

The Liberal Nationals understand the vital contribution surf lifesaving clubs makes across Victoria.

That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals government will invest $1.8 million to complete the long overdue Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club clubhouse and rebuild the unsafe operations centre if elected on 24 November.

This investment builds on the Liberal Nationals’ commitment to purchase 15 state-of-the-art lifesaving drones, which will assist lifesavers to identify a swimmer or surfer at risk and can dispense a buoy for them to hold onto until help arrives.

As our population has grown, so too has Point Lonsdale SLSC with a membership of over 2000 - including volunteer patrol lifesavers and a successful little Nippers program.

Daniel Andrews and Lisa Neville have lost control of this growth and failed to invest in facilities and infrastructure for volunteers to keep up with demand including Surf Lifesaving clubs, CFA stations and SES units.

Only the Liberal Nationals support those who protect us.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin MP:

“While Daniel Andrews has been at war with the CFA, surf lifesaving clubs have been left in a state of disrepair.”

“Brian has been working hard with the local community and the Point Lonsdale SLC to secure funding to build the infrastructure to better protect beach goers.”
